About
My name is Wojciech. Welcome to my website. I intend to share some art and thoughts (preferably more of the former).
If you’re familiar with the Dead Internet theory, you might sympathize with the effort to share content in such an old-school format.
Why art
As a kid, I loved painting and drawing.
What is jestwo
Since Wikipedia only offers the explanation in Polish, here’s a quick Gemini translation:
Jestestwo is an obsolete, polysemous (multi-meaning) Polish philosophical term. It is a nominalization (noun form) of the verb “to be” (być); variant forms such as jesteństwo and jestwo are also documented (in Linde’s dictionary). It can be found in Polish philosophy up until the 19th century, including in the works of Stanisław Staszic. It could signify either a living being or existence, being, and entity. Currently, it also functions as one of the Polish translations of the philosophical term Dasein (by Bogdan Baran), though other translation proposals also exist (such as przebywanie—“abiding/dwelling”—by Wawrzyniec Rymkiewicz).
When looking for a domain name, I wanted something that wasn’t too personal, yet could represent a range of topics for self-expression and reflection. In the end, I simply went for this simple, archaic, Zen-like word in the Polish language. I also love etymology, so you could say I’m a bit of a word nerd.
Also, as a teenager, I fell in love with graffiti. Jestwo sounds like something I would have totally used as a tag back then!
